Warfarmer

What Warfarmer reads, and what it never does

If you're careful about third-party tools, good. Here is exactly how Warfarmer gets its information, in plain words, so you can decide for yourself.

What it never does

These are fixed rules, not settings.

What it reads on your PC

All of it read-only.

1. Overwolf's game events

Overwolf provides these; Warfarmer only receives what Overwolf passes on:

  • your inventory;
  • the trade chat and whispers your game shows you;
  • the item under your pointer, to show its price beside it.

Chat is kept only while Warfarmer is open. It's never saved to a file and never sent anywhere.

2. Warframe's own log file

The game writes a log (EE.log). Warfarmer reads it but never changes it. Once an overlay or the whisper assistant's screen reading has been on (they're on by default), it also reads the same lines live as the game writes them, through Windows' standard debug-output channel, until Warfarmer closes.

That's how it knows when you trade, open a relic, or reach a screen an overlay reacts to.

3. The game's screen, with Windows' own text recognition

Only while the game is in front, and only on these screens:

  • the fissure reward and relic selection screens;
  • a riven's card;
  • a new whisper chat: when it opens, when you press Ctrl+Alt+W, or when you click Read screen.

The text is recognised on your PC by Windows itself, and the picture is deleted once it's read; it never leaves your PC. What was read (an item's name, a riven's stats, a player's name) can then be looked up on warframe.market, for prices or a public profile. Each overlay can be turned off.

4. One keyboard shortcut

While the whisper assistant is on and Warframe runs, Warfarmer registers Ctrl+Alt+W with Windows. Warfarmer receives that key press (the game doesn't), and nothing is sent to the game.

5. A few small things

  • Warframe's settings file (EE.cfg), read-only, for your interface scale and whether you play in fullscreen.
  • Whether Warframe and Overwolf are running, and where the game's window is and whether it's in front, so overlays sit in the right place.
  • Your in-game name, from Overwolf's game events.
  • Your clipboard, only when you click Paste in the whisper assistant.

What it changes on warframe.market

Only what you choose.

  • Your listings change only when you click.
  • After a trade, marking the matching listing done runs a short countdown (10 seconds by default) you can undo. It's on by default; turn it off in Settings. It only acts by itself when the trade clearly matches your listing, and otherwise waits for your click.
  • Your status follows the game only if you turn on Auto status. It's off by default.

You sign in on warframe.market's own page, so Warfarmer never sees your password. Your sign-in is stored encrypted by Windows, and signing out removes it.

Whispers and replies are copied to your clipboard when you click. You paste them into the game yourself.

Where your data goes

It stays on your PC.

Your inventory, history, trade ledger and settings are saved in Warfarmer's own folder on your PC. Warfarmer talks only to the services it needs: Overwolf, warframe.market, Digital Extremes' public data, and a few others for pictures and news. Requests to warframe.market, riven.market and the game-data services say they come from Warfarmer. The privacy notice lists every one of them and what's sent.

Bug reports send nothing by themselves: Help › Report a bug shows you everything it would attach first.

Can I get banned?

We won't promise what we can't.

Warfarmer is built to stay well away from what Digital Extremes treats as cheating: no memory reading, no input to the game, no file changes. But DE doesn't approve or endorse any third-party app, and its support article says:

"If you use external software in conjunction with Warframe, then you do so at your own risk."

Read DE's article yourself and decide.
